Rope access is a method of working at height using ropes and specialised equipment to safely access difficult-to-reach areas.

At Urban Abseiler, we adhere to the highest safety standards set by the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA), which ensures rigorous training, assessment, and operational guidelines for technicians. IRATA certification is essential for our technicians, providing industry-recognised levels of competence and a strict code of practice that prioritises safety, reliability, and quality in all rope access tasks.

Urban Abseiler offers three types of certifications to meet the diverse needs of technicians:

  1. IRATA Certification – A globally recognised rope access qualification, essential for safe and effective work at height. This certification system has three levels, each focusing on progressively advanced skills and rescue techniques, ensuring technicians are fully equipped for a range of access tasks.
  2. GWO Certification – Globally recognised training tailored for working on wind turbines. These courses provide specialised skills for safe access and emergency response in the wind energy sector.
  3. RTO (Registered Training Organisation) Certification – Nationally recognised qualifications in Australia that focus on specific skills or sets of skills needed for rope access and associated work tasks.

Each certification is designed to provide technicians with industry-leading expertise, whether they are new to rope access, moving into wind energy, or specialising in a particular field.

Training durations vary depending on the course. For example, our IRATA Level 1, 2, and 3 courses are each four days long, with an additional day for assessment. Our RTO and GWO courses have their own timelines, detailed in their specific descriptions.

Candidates should be at least 18 years old and in good health.

Specific prerequisites vary by course; for example, IRATA Level 2 and 3 courses require prior certification and experience at lower levels.

Full details are provided in the course descriptions.
